About Activity

Ever thought of breathing underwater or taking a SCUBA diving course? Ever tried a Discover SCUBA diving experience and wanted to take it deeper? Well, you needn’t look any further – sign up for a PADI Open Water Course and start preparing for your Adventure by scuba diving in Pune. Dive with Pune’s only PADI Dive center “Absolute SCUBA” at the Sub Divisional Sports Complex, Yerwada! Be part of the Largest International community of recreational Divers with one easy step, starting out in a pool close to you!

Timings : 8 am to 4 pm on both days

Starting Location: Pune
  • Day 1 : Theory and Pool Session
    • As you arrive for your PADI Open water course on day 1, you will start out with understanding Knowledge reviews of Chapters 1, 2 and 3 of your open water manual. You can take this opportunity to ask your PADI Instructor to explain things that didn’t seem very easy on your own. After these knowledge reviews, you will understand exactly what kind of environment you’re dealing with underwater, and hence be better prepared to get into the water. You will also become quite fluent with the SCUBA diving language, a non-verbal means of communication by the use of various hand signals underwater!
    • The session starts out with a surface briefing on equipment, and kitting-up of your SCUBA gear. Then you get changed into your wetsuits, and into the water! The swim test is straight after where you learn techniques related to movement, floating & even a bit of Breath Hold diving. This leads to a greater confidence in the water.
    •  Once your Instructor feels confident with your swimming skills, you will kit-up in your SCUBA gear and get into the shallow end to get comfortable with breathing and then gradually complete Regulator and Diving Mask related skills. This is followed by Alternate air source breathing (buddy breathing). The skills taught on the first day deal primarily with resolution of minor problems that a diver may face underwater.
    • The pool session on Day 1 is followed by the remaining knowledge reviews from the PADI manual and the Exam if time allows.
  • Day 2 : Pool Session
    • After a day of training in the pool, you will naturally feel more comfortable in this alien environment! Keeping this comfort level in mind, the skills of Day 2 focus on techniques that will better your experience underwater and give you the confidence to handle basic Emergencies. You will finally have an understanding of buoyancy control with skills such as Hovering, Fin pivot, underwater navigation and practice numerous above the water skills such as Tired diver tows, cramp removal and various safety checks.
    • Once these skills are completed and you feel like a confident SCUBA diver, you have the option to cruise underwater to your heart’s content and have pictures and videos taken by our PADI Professionals.
    • Congratulations; you are now more than halfway down the road to being a PADI Open Water diver!
    • Before you leave, be sure to speak with your PADI instructor about the open water dives required to complete your course and obtain your Life Long license. There are multiple Diving Destinations where you can complete your Course via an Absolute Experience.
    • Please note: make sure you are well fed and hydrated over the training days, because full divers are good divers. Snack breaks will be interspersed through the theory sessions, and there are also designated lunch breaks.

Things to Remember
Age: PADI allows children as young as 10 years of age to enroll for the PADI Open Water Diver course. Certain physiological effects of SCUBA Diving on a child’s developing body may pose risks therefore PADI India and Absolute SCUBA restricts kids below the age of 10 to undertake SCUBA diving activity. Similarly, there does not exist an upper age limit for diving; the only criteria are physical health, ability and enthusiasm, of course.
Medical Fitness: As SCUBA Diving is an adventure sport and comes with its own set of risks, PADI India has laid down certain medical conditions under which SCUBA diving may be unadvisable. In PADI courses, one needs to be in reasonable medical health. PADI has provided a medical questionnaire for self-evaluation which our PADI professionals recommend every participant to read through.
Swimming Requirements: Some swimming ability is required. You need to have basic swim skills and be able to comfortably maintain yourself in the water. The PADI Open Water Course is an internationally standardised course; hence the swimming parameters have been set by PADI USA. As an imminent diver, you must be able to, after demonstration:

Swim freely for 200 metres or 300 metres with mask, fins and snorkel. There is no time limit for this, and you may use any swimming stroke you want.

Float and tread water for 10 minutes, again using any method you want.

Please note: Make sure you are well fed and hydrated over the training days, because full divers are good divers. Snack breaks will be interspersed through the theory sessions, and there are also designated lunch breaks.
